Sophie’s (she/her) research focuses on 1) understanding neurobiological risk and maintenance factors for eating disorders, to identify novel treatment targets and 2) evaluating and improving upon the current DSM classification system for eating disorders, with the aim of improving treatment selection.  To that end, she is particularly interested in neurocognition, reward processing, and the neurobiological link between gastrointestinal symptoms and eating disorders, as well as clarifying diagnostic boundaries between avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) and anorexia nervosa and between full-threshold eating disorders and other specified feeding or eating disorder (OSFED)
